Floral Design at the Rose Bowl Parade

Investigate and tour Horticultural and Natural Wonders of California and design floral arrangements for floats displayed in the Tournament of Roses Parade. 

Anticipated Learning Outcomes

• Increase student appreciation of floral design and fresh cut flower as it pertains to the horticulture industry  
• Give students an opportunity to design floral arrangements for floats in the Tournament of Roses Parade
• Allow students to see first-hand botanical gardens, cut flower operations, and national forests and parks in California.

Eligibility

• Must be 18 years of age or older, regardless of parental consent
• Current WKU student eligible to register for winter term course
• Register for the following winter term course HORT 475 or HORT 475G
• Complete Study Away application process
• Good Academic Standing
• Each student is subject to review by Judicial Affairs (if currently under any sanction)
• Permission of instructor(s)

Program Package

• Includes: tuition, round-trip airfare, accommodations, and all group excursions, in addition to a shuttle that will take participants from Bowling Green to Nashville Airport and back on the return.
• Not included in program fee: food expenses or personal spending money.
• Final program fee subject to change due to travel arrangements.

• Check with your major department for additional available scholarships
• You may contact Student Financial Assistance to determine your funding options if needed. You will need to provide the course number, name, your name and 800#, and the Study Away course fee as stated above, in the email you send to financial aid.
