Many students at WKU have experienced the incredible whirlwind semester Harlaxton College offers. Whether you are new to international education, or you’ve seen it all before, Harlaxton is a great opportunity to study abroad.
What is Harlaxton?
Harlaxton College is located in Grantham, England, which is a small town about an hour north of London. The University of Evansville owns the 19th century manor, and WKU has a contract that allows students to study abroad there every semester.
What is life like at Harlaxton?
Students live in a gorgeous manor house, take classes with students from all across America, and have the opportunity to travel throughout Europe on the weekends. Students take classes Monday through Thursday, leaving three-day weekends available for travel. There are school trips offered, and many students travel independently. About 150 students attend Harlaxton each semester. For more detailed information be sure to check out Katie Meek's (Class of 2015) blog. Katie will be blogging while studying at Harlaxton during the Spring 2012 semester. Click here to read it!
What classes are offered?
Each student who goes to Harlaxton is required to take British Studies, a 6-hour history course divided into two parts: lecture and seminar. Various general education courses are offered each semester, depending on visiting faculty, and most students take 12 credit hours while at Harlaxton.
