Admission and Visa Information

Once Admissions has reviewed and hopefully accepted your application, and assuming we have received all necessary documentation from the application process, we will send you the following items:

1. Formal Letter of Admission;

2. DS-2019. You will receive a copy of your DS-2019, which is a "Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor (J-1) Status", permitting a prospective exchange visitor to seek an interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate in order to obtain a J visa to enter the United States;

3. SEVIS Number. Included in the DS-2019 will be a SEVIS ID number. This number will enable you to go online and pay your required SEVIS tracking fee ($160 for J-1 students). Be sure to print off a receipt showing you have paid the tracking fee (for instructions, click here);

Take all three items, along with a copy of your financial statement, to the US Embassy or Consulate in your country when applying for the J-1 Visa.
