Summer 2008 Programs

CTBU  - Chongqing Technical and Business University

CTBU Offers a three week cultural immersion experience in the heart of the new China.  Located on the famous Yantzee River, Chongqing offers a great location to learn about and experience a wide variety of China’s yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  Topics covered as a part of the program include.  Program topics include Language, Calligraphy, Martial Arts, Chinese Culture, and Chinese History among others. 

Dates for the trip are May 11th to May 31st.  Six hours of credit ($1,602 estimated) will be awarded and WKU students will pay $750 for accommodations and fee’s.  Students will purchase meals locally.  Food in China is very cheap and expenses are estimated at less than $200. Airline tickets are estimated to range between $1,000 and $1,500. 

Universidad Veracruzana

The Universidad Veracruzana offers a fantastic language an immersion program for those who want t refine your Spanish while experiencing the unique and authentic Mexican culture.  Located in the picturesque town of Xalapa, The Unniversidad Veracruzana offers the optimal combination of cultural and academic.  From basic beginners to advanced, 5 different levels are offered to appeal to everyone.  Students typically stay in the homes of Mexican families, which, in the past has offered the most gratifying and long lasting of cultural experiences.

Dates for the program are June 9th to July 18th.  All expenses and fees are paid to the Universidad Veracruzana.  Please refer to the Calender and Fee’s Worksheet for specific information.

ESIDEC University

Metz, France is the location for ESIDEC Universities summer business immersion program.  This  annual program will yield six hours of business credit (3 hours in upper level in Management or Marketing and 3 hours in lower division business elective).  Students have a choice of tracks in  European Supply Chain Management, European Management, and European Marketing  to go along with such cultural topics as French language , French food, European Geography, French Civilization.  The fourth week of the program offers the advantage of travel.  Students will visit Brussels, Normandy, Mont St. Michel, Versailles, and Paris.  This program offers a great balance between academics, culture and travel. 

Cost for the program include six hours of WKU tuition ($1,602 estimated) and program fees have not been determined. Airfare is estimated at roughly $1,000.

Yonsei University

Looking for a traditional approach to summer school?  You might want to try Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea.  Courses in such diverse topics as Korean Language and Culture, Politics, Law, Business, Economics, Science, Engineering and many more are offered during the summer term.  WKU students will take courses at Yonsei and transfer them back to WKU.  WKU students have the ad vantage of paying WKU in-state rates due to the cooperation agreement that exists between the two schools.  All other expenses will be paid to the host institution or in the host country.  This is a great opportunity to spend time in one of Asia’s leading cities, have a traditional summer school experience, and experience a great and unique culture.
