Consortia
WKU is a part of two study abroad consortia. KIIS (Kentucky Institute for International Studies) and CCSA (Cooperative Center for Study Abroad) provide WKU students with access to study abroad opportunities all over the world. Courses offered may change every term, but the locations are generally the same from year to year with the occasional addition of a new location.
KIIS is affiliated with Murray State University which grants the credit for the courses taken abroad through KIIS. The courses are transferred back to WKU as if the student took the course on Murray State's main campus. Transfer equivalencies from Murray State to WKU can be found here. KIIS offers one semester opportunity in the fall (Regensburg, Germany), two in the spring (Segovia, Spain & Dijon, France), and many more opportunities in the summer. KIIS conducts programs in the following countries during the summer:
- Argentina
- Austria
- Brazil
- China

- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Italy

CCSA is based at Northern Kentucky University. Students turn in their CCSA applications to the Study Abroad Office which are forwarded to CCSA along with their deposit. Once a student has been accepted into a program, the Study Abroad Office will contact the relevant department at WKU to set up a course in which that student may register via TopNet. NKU does not grant the credit for CCSA courses, the student's home institution grants the course credit. The student will be charged $50 per credit hour by WKU. CCSA has several different types of opportunities including short-term study abroad programs, semester programs (in England) and internships. CCSA has programs in the following locations:
