Financial Aid & Scholarships
Study Abroad has an undeserved reputation as being expensive. Even the most expensive program can become affordable if you use all of the resources available to you. If you are eligible for financial aid and/or are receiving scholarships, those awards may be applied towards a study abroad opportunity. Please check with Student Financial Assistance for more information regarding your particular financial aid situation.
In addition, WKU has created a significant scholarship fund, the World Topper Scholarship, which is dedicated to supporting study abroad opportunities.
Know your options by creating a budget.

Don't underestimate your own power and creativity to secure those last few resources necessary to make this happen. The following are a few ideas that students have employed:
- Sponsorships from local Chambers of Commerce or businesses - students provided reports or worked on projects upon their return
- Garage Sales - put together donated items from family and friends and turn them into cash
- Auctions - using Ebay and other methods, items and services can be sold on-line
- Part-time employment - many students will take a few extra hours or even a second job and tuck that money away. In no time, the money for a study abroad opportunity has been found.
