Study Abroad @ WKU

Dear Colleagues,

One of the goals found in Western's Strategic Plan and in the emerging Quality Enhancement Plan being developed for SACS accreditation is to increase international and intercultural learning experiences for students. To that end, I am pleased to announce a new initiative at Western to increase opportunities and participation in study abroad by both students and faculty. Students will be encouraged to participate in study abroad through special tuition benefits supplemented by need and merit-based scholarships. Faculty will be encouraged to develop and lead study abroad courses through faculty development grants and instructional stipends.

Appropriate criteria for measuring the success [of this new initiative will be] growth in student learning as well as growth in participation in the program.
