SEVERE WEATHER STATEMENT
UPDATED: Wednesday 02/29/2012 10:30 AM
DISCUSSION:
A continually destabilizing warm sector will expand to the east as the approaching low pressure center gets closer to the state. Surface dewpoints are in the mid-60s and surface temperatures are well into the 70s across the region, helping to verify how unstable the area is. CAPE across the south-central part of the state is ranging between 2250 and 2500 J/kg. Temperatures should continue to rise until cells begin to fire to our west. Directional shear is not too impressive at this point, but speed shear should continue to play a key role in storm development this afternoon. Right-turning hodographs look to persist into the late afternoon, favorable for tornado development.
As warnings are issued, we urge everyone to take heed of the information. Dangerous storms are likely for the Warren County area and surrounding counties this afternoon. Social media updates will be provided by STN as warnings are issued, but stay tuned to local TV stations for current information.
