Join in National Make a Difference Week at WKU. This week will offer multiple causes and fundraisers for members of WKU to get involved in:
--Make a Difference Week's Kickoff Event (Monday, October 19 (10AM-1PM): Come to DUC and see Campus and Community Organizations you can get involved in.
--SGA's Campus Cleanup: on Monday, October 19 at 1:30 PM, start at Cherry Hall and work your way down the hill picking up litter and recyclables with friends and other members of the WKU community.
--Up 'til Dawn's Letter Writing Party (benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital): Send out form letters with a personal touch to friends and family to raise money for the world's premier privately-funded Research Hospital on Oct 20-21. The hospital provides FREE care to patients and hosts leading researchers in the fields of Catastrophic Diseases.
--Relay for Life's "Support" Breast Cancer Research: Decorate a bra with your organization to help raise awareness and financial "support" for breast cancer research and American Cancer Society. On Thursday, October 22, see their booth outside of DUC to remember or honor a loved one that has battled cancer.
--Shantytown sponsored by the Residence Hall Association and Habitat for Humanity: Habitat's major fundraiser helps promote Homelessness awareness and raise money for their projects in the Bowling Green community. See the website for more details on how to donate money and food items; then register your team to build a shanty: http://www.wku.edu/rha/shantytown.html
--Volunteering in Progress' Southern Kentucky Bookfest: Donate used books for a sale that benefits local libraries.
--United Way Penny Wars: Donate coins to beat your friends and other organizations; raise money for United Way's philanthropic activities in the Bowling Green area. If you are interested in forming a team or are seeking more information, contact andrew.rash@wku.edu
--More activities and times will be announced soon, so stay tuned!
If you have any questions, or would like to include your philanthropy, service organization, or campus organization, please contact Aaron Pawley at joseph.pawley193@wku.edu.
