Assessment at WKU
University Outcomes Assessment Committee

Purpose:

The UOAC will support a process of continual self-evaluation and improvement across all academic and nonacademic units at Western Kentucky University. Its primary function is in an advisory/supportive capacity to academic and nonacademic departments with respect to the total assessment process. Pursuant to that purpose, the UOAC will

  • Provide assistance and consultation to academic and administrative and educational support units in formulating and implementing assessment plans consistent with the standards established by SACS.
  • Annually review the assessment documents submitted by the departments or units and provide feedback to the units for improvement purposes.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and distribution of program review templates for annual assessment reports
  • Provide an annual report to the Provost documenting strengths and weaknesses of the University’s overall effort in assessment and institutional effectiveness.

Governance:
The UAC will function under the auspices of the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The composition of the UAC will be as follows:

  • Faculty representatives and/or administrators from each college
  • Representatives from Administrative and Educational Support Units
  • A representative from Institutional Research
  • A representative from the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
  • Chair to be named by the Provost
