This is an exciting time in our University’s History and together, with your hall and Residence Hall Association, you have an opportunity to celebrate an event that marks the beginning of Western’s ascension to NCAA 1-A football. Included in this packet is all the information you will need to know to get your hall started in the annual competitions.
Residence Hall Association is continuing its new method of getting the money to the halls. Each hall will receive $55.00 dollars automatically to spend on anything homecoming related as long as you request the money through RHA with a program proposal form. The Hall director for each building can spend this money using the pro-card procedure. Any other money the hall needs for homecoming will have to be fund-raised by the individual hall. You may not request any additional money for homecoming through the normal program proposal process.
During homecoming week, your hall will be competing in four campus wide competitions. These will be first, BANNER CONTEST, where each hall makes a banner that coincides with the theme of homecoming, “Moving on Up.” The second of the competitions is the LOBBY DECORATIONS, where your hall will decorate the lobby to represent and support the theme. The third of the main competitions will be the HANGING OF THE RED. This has change this year to participation points. As long as your hall meets the requirements stated on the HANGING OF THE RED competition form later in this packet, your hall will receive the designated participation points. Lastly this year RHA has decided to add BIG RED’S ROAR to our competitions. BIG RED’S ROAR is our school’s pep rally for the game, where we want your halls to show their pride for WKU and your respected residence halls.
Members of RHA’s E-Board will judge the competitions, and the hall with the highest number of RHA points will win. The winner of homecoming week will receive the trophy we hand out annual, and will get to keep it in there hall until next year’s homecoming week.
