Director of WKU's MPA program honored at the Hats Off to Women luncheon

Dr. Victoria Gordon was one of ten women honored at this year’s “Hats Off to Women” luncheon. The Office for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion sponsored the luncheon and served as hosts for the 4th annual event held at the Faculty House on March 28, 2014. Dr. Gordon was nominated for this “Unsung Heroine” award by Amber Scott, staff member in Human Resources and a graduate of the MPA program.
March is Women’s History Month and a time to celebrate the achievement of women both nationally and locally. This WKU event focuses on the accomplishments of women at WKU and within the community. The keynote speaker for this event was Michele Tolbert who spoke about the importance of women and the many “hats” they wear in their personal and professional lives. Michele is the Director of Human Resources for the Warren County Board of Education and also serves as an adjunct in the MPA program, Political Science department.
Dr. Saundra Ardrey was selected for a 2017-2018 Fulbright U.S. Scholar grant to South Africa from July 2017 to June 2018.
Ashleigh Cleary, an IA major, and Dr. Rich co-authored an article in the Taiwan Sentinel on same-sex marriage legislation and public opinion in Taiwan. https://sentinel.tw/attitudes-gay-taiwan/
Stella Treumann, an international affairs major from Germany, and Dr. Timothy Rich co-authored an article on Taiwanese perceptions of Syrian refugees. Treumann conducted an experimental web survey... https://sentinel.tw/taiwan-syria-refugees/
Rich received the University Research/Creativity Award at the 2016 Presentation of Faculty Awards for his scholarly contributions to East Asian politics.
Political Science Student, Barrett Greenwell, presented his thesis research at the Pi Sigma Alpha Conference.
Alexandria Knipp, a WKU student from Olive Hill, has been awarded a prestigious U.S. Foreign Service Internship from the U.S. Department of State.
