Tracey Moore - Assistant Professor of Theatre/Music Theatre
Tracey Moore is an actress, singer, teacher, and author. Her performing career includes 2 National Tours: Camelot with Richard Harris, and the role of Emma Goldman in Ragtime. She appeared in the Off-Broadway productions Seor Discretion by Frank Loesser, I Will Come Back, and the title role in Blitzstein's Regina. Other performances include a world premiere at the Metropolitan Opera and a U.S. premiere at New Jersey State Opera.
Tracey has performed at major regional theaters across the U.S. She is proud to have developed the role of Mary Magdalene in the Pre-Broadway workshop of Kevorkian Caf and the role of Red in a forthcoming Broadway show entitled Laughing Matters. A popular performer at the BMI Musical Theatre workshop, the ASCAP Music Theatre Workshop, the NYU Musical Theatre Writing program, and New Dramatists, her CD, entitled "Workshop, Volume I," features songs from new musicals and is available on the Original Cast Records label. A second CD of Tracey's original material is called "Love Songs" and is available through CDBaby.com.
Acting the Song, Performance Skills for the Musical Theatre Artist was published by Allworth Press in 2008. An article entitled "Teaching Broadway Singing in the era of American Idol" appeared in the international journal, Studies in Music Theatre. She also authored a 3-part series on music theatre which appeared in the Educational Theatre Association's Journal, Teaching Theatre.
Tracey is currently heading the musical theatre BFA program at Western Kentucky University, where she teaches and directs. During the summers, she teaches at the California State Summer School for the Arts. She is a Certified Mediator for Alternative Dispute Resolution, and a member of Actor's Equity, VASTA, NATS, and ATHE. She holds an M.F.A. in Acting from Brooklyn College, an M.A. in English from Southern Illinois University and a B.M. in Voice from Indiana University.
