Internships
In order for the Department of Modern Languages to determine whether a proposed internship is suitable for credit as FREN/GERM/SPAN 389, the student must fill out the On-line Internship Pre-Application Form and sent it by the appropriate deadline. The form outlines guidelines for identifying an internship and lists deadlines for its submission.
Internships in Spanish
The Department of Modern Languages offers a limited number of internships during the Fall and Spring semesters. Students who are looking for additional Spanish courses may choose to complete the internship (SPAN 389) as one of their electives within the major.
To qualify for the internship students must have successfully completed one three hundred level course. Students approved for an internship will receive three hours of credit and will be required to work 150 hours (10 hours per week) over the course of the semester. Students will work with a faculty advisor for whom they will keep a weekly log in Spanish and with whom they will meet periodically throughout the semester. Grades will be based on a final evaluation by the work supervisor, the weekly log and the interview.
A committee that will include members of the Spanish faculty will select the interns each semester. On-line Internship Pre-Application Form
