Wall and Grise Scholarships

These study abroad scholarships are awarded to several foreign language majors and minors to support their study abroad. The most recent recipients are:

William R. Walls Award

• Megan M. Burch, $1000 scholarship for study in France, Fall 2002.
• Jennifer J. Gibbs, $400 scholarship for study in Segovia, Spain, Summer 2002.
• Jaime A. Ritter, $1000 scholarship for study in Austria, Fall 2002.
• Julie M. Civello, $600 scholarship for study in Segovia, Spain, Summer 2003.
• Alexandra Ellis, $600 scholarship for study in Morelia, Mexico, Summer 2003.
• Yoko Tanimoto, $600 scholarship for study in Mexico,  Summer 2003.
• Dana Lockhart, $1000 scholarship for study in Vienna, Fall 2003.
• Jennifer J. Gibbs, $1200 scholarship for study in Segovia, Spain, Spring 2003.
• Casey Ann Button, $1000 scholarship for study in Segovia, Spain, Spring 2004.
• Celia Jameson, Winter 2007 to study in Chile.

Foreign Language Festival Scholarships

At the annual foreign language festival, awards were given to the following area high school students:

2004 FOREIGN LANGUAGE FESTIVAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT, $500, FOR STUDENTS WHO INTEND TO MAJOR IN A  FOREIGN LANGUAGE AT WESTERN:

• Nermina Mujakovic, $500 scholarship winner for Spring 2004.

2003 FOREIGN LANGUAGE FESTIVAL  SCHOLARSHIP FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT, $250, FOR STUDENTS WHO WILL ATTEND WESTERN:

• Amanda Adams, $250 scholarship winner for Fall 2003.
• Tray Hor , $250 scholarship winner for Fall 2003.

Oustanding Students Awards

• Each spring at the University Awards Ceremony, the ML Department recognizes students with outstanding achievements in our various programs. They receive a certificate and, in some cases, a small cash award. Follow this link for the names of the students so honored at the Awards Ceremony in the previous and current years.
