Sarah Berry,Cello: received her Masters in Cello Performance from Rice University and her Bachelor of Music degree from Vanderbilt University with majors in Cello Performance and German. She performed most recently with the San Antonio Symphony, the Charleston Symphony and locally with the Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra. Mrs. Berry has performed with the Chamber Music Society of Charleston and was recently a Guest Artist at Southeastern College in Florida. In 2001, her string quartet won First Prize at the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition in Washington, D.C. In addition to performing, Mrs. Berry has taught general music at Charleston Collegiate School, cello for the Shepherd Preparatory Program and substitute strings for the Charleston County School District. She is on the faculty of the Tennessee Valley Music Festival and has spent her summers performing at the Spoleto Festival USA, the National Orchestral Institute, Brevard Music Center, and the Meadowmount School for Strings. She teaches pre-college and college cello lessons, public school strings classes, collegiate classes and performs as Principal Cellist with the Bowling Green Western Symphony Orchestra.

Rebecca Reed-Lunn,Viola: studied at Indiana University Bloomington where she received a Bachelors of Music Degree with High Distinction and a Performer Diploma in viola. Her teachers include Cassandra Lynne Richburg, Alan de Veritch, and Yuval Gotlibovich. In addition to her scholastic orchestral experience, she has played with the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus Philharmonic, the Bloomington Pops, and the Maui Pops Orchestra. She studied violin pedagogy with Mimi Zweig and Brenda Brenner of the Indiana University String Academy and applies many of their pedagogical methods including their incorporation of the Suzuki method with early note-reading. She has worked as the assistant to the director and violin and viola instructor for Suzuki Maui in Kula, Hawaii, as well as violin and viola instructor for Smith Holden Music and Education and assistant violin and viola instructor with the Indiana University Summer String Academy in Bloomington, Indiana.

Ching Yi Lin is active as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Taiwan. As an assistant to the internationally renowned Professor Mauricio Fuks, she taught his undergraduate and graduate students at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She has also been an instructor in the IU String Academy, teaching violin and group lessons, and working closely with Mimi Zweig and Brenda Brenner. In 2008-09, she acted as a co-researcher, violin instructor, and piano accompanist for the Fairview Project--a research project designed to assess how underprivileged first graders can benefit from learning the violin. Her other principal teachers include Fredell Lack (University of Houston), Nelli Schkolnikova (IU), and Boris Kuschnir (Vienna Conservatory).

WKU Chorale to Engage in Fall Performance Tour

The WKU Chorale will be engaged in a Fall Performance Tour. This
flagship chorale ensemble, conducted by Paul Hondorp, will perform in
Kentucky at The Louisville Christian Academy, Paducah-Tilghman High School,
Marshall County High School, Meade County High School and John Hardin
High School.
WKU Conductor's Professional Development Workshop - November
The Conductor's Professional Development Workshop will be offered on
November 19-21, 2009, and will be limited to the first 16 enrollees who
will have the opportunity to work with conductors Richard Floyd
(University of Texas), Barry Kraus (Belmont University) and Gary
Schallert, Jeff Bright and Bill Scott (Western Kentucky University).
After these slots are filled, applicants can attend the workshop through
the Observer Track. The Conductor's Track is set at $100 and the
Observer Track is $60, mailed to WKU Band, Department of Music, 1906
College Heights Blvd., #41029, Bowling Green, KY 42101.
Van Meter Renovation Update

The construction crew for Van Meter renovations continue to move the schedule closer to the finish line. It is anticipated that the renovations may be complete by the end of 2009 instead of the originally forecast June 2010.
