KIIS is a consortium of Kentucky colleges and universities that maintains campuses in Europe, Asia, Africa and Central and South America. KIIS was founded on the conviction that an international experience should be part of the education of as many people as possible. Summer study sessions of 5 to 6 weeks duration and semester-long programs provide linguistic and cultural immersion within the context of well-structured course work.
Students at WKU can participate in any of the KIIS programs around the world, practicing and improving their language skill and earning credits towards their major or minor in French, German or Spanish.
Summer, Fall and Spring language-based programs are available in Austria, China, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Japon, Mexico, and Spain. Visit the KIIS website at http://www.kiis.org for more information.
KIIS directors at the Department of Modern Language
Dr. Stewart is the director of the KIIS Spain II summer program. The Spain II program takes place in Madrid, Spain's vibrant capital, and in Segovia, a charming provincial capital in the foothills of the Guadarrama mountains, only 60 miles to the north of Madrid. The locations of both cities make them ideal for excursions, and their diverse natures will provide students with dramatically different experiences of Spain. Up to 6 credits. NOTE: Participants will be required to have completed at least 18 credit hours of college-level Spanish or equivalent.
Dr. Pertusa is the director of the KIIS Spanish Spring in Segovia program. Each spring semester KIIS offers a 13-week Spanish program in Segovia, Spain.
