To the student, Forensics is an opportunity to cultivate life-long friendships, travel the country, and receive college credit for what you already love to do.  As a result of the incredibly supportive administration, the students in Forensics at WKU enjoy many benefits, which is why WKU is home to more high school and collegiate national champions than any other program in the country.

The benefits of being part of a championship team extend far beyond the WKU campus.  Forensics graduates have been accepted, and excelled at,  the top law, business, and graduate schools in the country.

  • The only team to win the National Forensic Association Championship in debate and individual events in the same year. WKU accomplished this feat multiple times.
  • The only team to win the National Forensic Association, American Forensic Association, and International Forensic Association Championships in the same year. WKU accomplished this feat multiple times.
  • Winners of the International Forensic Association World Championship every year in attendance.
  • Kentucky Forensics Association StateChampions for over two decades.
  • Recognized by the Kentucky Senate andHouse of Representatives for Forensics Excellence.

The Elizabeth McWhorter Harden Forensics Alumni Association

WKU's Award winning Forensics team, the school's oldest student organization, formed an alumni group that bears the name of a 1956 graduate and champion debater called the Elizabeth McWhorter Harden Forensics Alumni Association.

Tournament Invitations

The Nov. 14 WKU/Alumni Swing

A senior high school swing tournament (two tournaments in one day) is a very economical way to compete. We host this tournament each year using all senior high KHSSL individual events (no debate).

Our annual junior high Hilltopper Classic tournament held on December 5th is growing. We host all junior division KHSSL events.

The Hilltopper Classic is Coming!

Invitation to the High School Hilltopper Classic

Our annual Hilltopper Classic tournament (hosted December 12th), for senior high schools, has been growing over the years, and this year is no exception.  We host all senior KHSSL events including Public Forum, but not L-D debate. This tournament is now a qualifier for the NIETOC (website at www.nietoc.com)  The tournament invitation is below.  If you have any questions, just call or email christopher.chandler@wku.edu

Auditions for High School Students Held Dec. 11th

On Friday, Dec. 11, the WKU forensics team will be holding auditions for high school seniors interested in competing on Western’s team from 9am to 5pm.  For more information, click below.
