Hello there. Welcome to our homepage. I'd like to take this opportunity to let you know a bit about what life for an English major at WKU is like. Above all, it is interesting. We have so many activities you won't be able to take advantage of them all. In addition to a fabulous variety of courses (see curriculum), there's our English Club, the Film Club, our Creative Writing Readers Series, the Undergraduate Literature and Culture Conference, Zephyrus (our undergraduate literary magazine), internship and study abroad opportunities, and just plain good company.
What's more, we have small classes and a welcoming faculty who enjoy working individually with students and helping them to do their best. We prepare our students for a host of professional opportunities from editing/publishing, professional writing, or teaching to working in business and for non-profits, attending graduate school in literature, composition/rhetoric, creative writing, film, or law, working in student services in fact, for pretty much whatever they choose to do. (Check out our Careers page.) We offer small town friendliness and big city opportunities. Come for a visit! I think you will like what you find.
Cordially,
Dr. Karen Schneider
Department Head
