Mr. Yuan used to be a lecturer of English at Nankai University in Tianjin, China, where he also taught foreign students Chinese at summer schools. He worked as a media specialist and taught Chinese at All Saints' Academy in Winter Haven, Florida between 1995 and 97 before coming to Western. From the summer of 2003, he began to teach with the Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School Students (SCATS) program at Western. For other experiences and credentials, please visit his home page. He has contributed over twenty entries to the Encyclopedia of Contemporary Chinese Culture (Routledge, 2004). He is contributing to and serving on the editorial board for the five-volume Berkshire Encyclopedia of China (Berkshire, 2008). He published The Magic Lotus Lantem and Other Tales from the Han Chinese (Libraries Unlimited, 2006) and Princess Peacook: Tales from Other Peoples of China (Libraries Unlimited, 2008). He is consultant to the book Holidays Around the World: Celebrate Chinese New Year (National Geographic Children's Book, 2009). He is currently editing a two-volume encyclopedia on Chinese ethnic groups to be published early next year by the Greenwood Publishing Group. He is listed on the 2009 Marquis Who's Who in America.
