WKU Film Club Series

International Film Series (see details following the list of the WKU Film Club Screenings)

The WKU Film Club is hosting a 7 week film series of films chosen by
our very own film aficionados.

MARCH 16th: THE SQUID AND THE WHALE (2005, 81 min)
7PM CH 004
Chosen by Stefan, Directed by Noah Baumbach, The Squid and the Whale is
a touching yet comedic story about 2 teenage boys dealing with their
parents divorce in Brooklyn in the late 80s. Come see how the characters
quirkiness progresses throughout!

MARCH 23rd: BEING THERE (1979, 130 min)
7PM CH 004
Chosen by Tyler, Directed by Hal Ashby, Being There is a story of a man
who has been totally isolated in his life living in a man's house and
tending to his garden. Upon his benefactor's death the isolated gardener
is thrust into the cruel world and by acts of fate he becomes a
prominant and important celebrity. oh boy!

MARCH 30th: MOONSTRUCK (1987, 102 min)
7PM CH 004
Chosen by Michael, Directed by Norman Jewison, a widowed book keeper
(Cher) is torn between marrying a decent young man, or his moody younger
brother. Dramatic!

APRIL 6th: HAMLET 2 (2008, 92 min)
7PM CH 125
Chosen by Lorna, Directed by Andrew Fleming, This comedy is about a
failed actor-turned-worse-high-school-drama-teacher who rallies his
uninterested students into doing an incredibly offensive and outlandish
sequel to Shakespeare's Hamlet. Rock me Sexy Jesus!

APRIL 13th: MIRROR (1974, 108 min)
7PM CH 125
Chosen by Brandon, Directed by Tarkovsky, In a series of episodes and
images, he captures the mood and feeling of the period just before,
during and after the second world war. Artsy!

APRIL 20TH: BIG LEBOWSKI (1998, 117 min)
7PM CH 125
Chosen by Daniel, Directed by Joel Coen, "The Dude" is mistaken for a
different Lebowski, a big wig with a rambunctious younger wife who is
kidnapped for a large ransom. Its not on the Sabbath, so you should be
there.

APRIL 27TH: MANHATTAN (1979, 96 min)
7PM CH 125
Chosen by Courtney Hatley, Directed by Woody Allen, A divorced New
Yorker currently dating a high-schooler brings himself to look for love
in the mistress of his best friend instead. Lolita-much?

All films are on Monday evenings, and admission is free! There isn't an
excuse on earth for why you shouldn't attend this eclectic
conglomeration of films you haven't seen before. You can go to your
friends and make obscure film references to wow-and-dazzle, all the kids
in English will think you are super cool!
Two-thumbs up for film club select film series!
