How Do I Apply?
How to Apply
So you wish to apply to the Folk Studies Program?
Although it is not required, we encourage you to contact the Department Head as soon as possible to let her know that you are applying. Before your admission materials are forwarded to the department, GRE scores and all transcripts must be received by Graduate Studies. If your undergraduate grade point average is less than 3.0, we may require three letters of reference. These may be the same letters as those submitted for a graduate assistantship application.
The admission deadline is June 15th for fall semester. However, please be aware that to receive full consideration for graduate assistantship funding, you must have all your application and assistantship materials submitted by March.
We do allow new graduate students to start in the spring. Beginning in spring is more challenging, especially for students without a folklore background, but we are happy to work with you. Typically one to three students start each spring.
