Amanda Clark - Assistant Professor of Dance

Amanda ClarkAmanda Clark, a native of Indiana, began her studies in dance at a very young age. She holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts magna cum laude in dance performance with an emphasis in jazz, tap, and musical theatre dance from Oklahoma City University. She continued her studies in ballet and modern dance as a Graduate Foundation Fellow at The University of Oklahoma where she received a Master of Fine Arts in dance performance/choreography/pedagogy. While at OU, Amanda instructed ballet technique classes within the School of Dance and also taught jazz and tap classes through the Weitzenhoffer Department of Musical Theatre. She has also instructed dance classeswithin the private sectorin Indiana, Illinois, and Oklahoma. Along with her teaching endeavors, Amanda has presented dance history lectures at The University of Oklahoma as well as a lecture/demonstration, entitled Tap Dance in America , at the South West Theatre Association. Amanda performed regularly with the American Spirit Dance Company of OCU and was also a member of the American Spirit Touring Company. She has also appeared at the Jazz Dance World Congress in both Buffalo, New York and Monterrey, Mexico. Her choreography encompasses a range of dance idioms and has been presented in the Leo's Choreography Competitve Event of the JDWC in Mexico in 2001 and again in Chicago in 2005. She has also been a guest choreographer for Spirit and Sole, the resident dance company at St. Gregory's University.
