STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
Aaron Deaton, October 2012
What is your academic area of study?
I am in the RN to BSN program.
What inspired you to seek a college education?
As far back as I can remember as a child, there was always something about hospitals
that I liked. I found everything about them interesting.
What would you say your motivation for succeeding is?
I would say my motivation for succeeding is two equal parts: I want to feel a sense
of accomplishment and to provide a good life for my family.
Do you have any academic achievements you would like to share, and what are some of
your possible career goals?
I earned an ADN in December of 1996 and became a RN in January 1997. I recently went
back to school, starting with an Independent Learning class around the Spring of 2011.
I started the RN to BSN program at WKU in the Fall of 2011. After obtaining my BSN,
I plan to pursue an advanced practice nursing degree, hopefully in the field of anesthesia.
In as many words as you would like, please tell us a little about yourself.
I have been married for almost 19 years to a wonderful and beautiful girl, who is
also a nurse. We have 2 sons, Hayden and Evan, ages 8 and 11, and a dog named Isabelle.
We spend a lot of family time together, riding bikes, playing basketball with the
boys and just hanging out around the house grilling out.
