Steps to applying to WKU-Owensboro

  1. Make an appointment with an advisor to ensure you are ready to apply.
    1. Call (270) 684-9797 or stop by our office to schedule an appointment.
    2. Bring with you an unofficial copy (obtained from the student) of your school transcripts.
  2. Fill out an admissions application.
    1. Fill out online  •  or print an application  •  or pick one up at our office.
    2. There is a $40.00 admissions fee for new students.
  3. Send us your transcripts for your prior college credit hours.
    • How do I get an official WKU transcript?

    Requests for an official transcript must be in writing to the Registrar’s office. Forms can be found in the Owensboro office or you can write a request. An online transcript request form is available through the WKU Registrar's website. Payment, $7.00 per transcript, must accompany the requests. Be sure to include your name, social security number or Western ID, and the location where you want your transcripts sent. If paying by credit card, include the name on the card, the card number, the type of card, and the expiration date. Send your request to:

    • How do I get official transcripts from other schools?

    You need to contact your previous college(s) to obtain an official transcript for your coursework at that school(s).

Once you have been accepted

  1. Meet with an advisor, get admitted, and enroll in courses. Call (270) 684-9797 to schedule an appointment today.
  2. Memorize your student ID number located on your letter of acceptance.
  3. Use your student ID number (800#) to login and set up your TopNet account.
    1. TopNet is a valuable tool for checking your bill, financial aid status, and registering yourself for classes.

    1. Your bill is emailed to you.
    2. Teachers and the office staff often use your email to notify you of schedule changes or important events.
