About Us

Welcome to our WKU–Owensboro Website

Over one thousand students attend the campus and we will continue to grow our enrollment with the completion of our first building. We offer over twenty bachelor degrees and twenty five master’s degree programs in Owensboro. We are continually adding majors and programs to meet the educational needs of people in Daviess County.

A cooperative arrangement between the local community colleges and WKU-O make transferring from any of the community colleges easy. WKU-O works closely with Owensboro Community & Technical College, Madisonville Community College, Henderson Community College and most of our majors build on the associate degrees offered. This relationship allows students to maximize the credits they have earned at the community college as they pursue a bachelor degree. Academic advisors at WKU-O will evaluate transcripts, assist in selecting a major, and create a plan to complete a degree in the most efficient and affordable manner. Higher education is very affordable when you complete your associate degree at the community college and your bachelor degree at WKU-O.

There are over thirty part-time and full-time faculty teaching over one hundred classes in the fall semester. More classes and degrees are being added every semester to meet the educational needs of the community.

Our new facility will be totally wireless and classes will be delivered face-to-face, interactive video, and on-line. The new building will house the majority of our classes. Administrative offices, computer lab, library support, conference rooms, student lounge, and a bookstore will also be in this building. Everything you need to complete your degree in Owensboro will be provided.

A bachelor’s degree is more important today than any other time in our history. Research clearly shows that salaries increase with more education. It also shows that layoffs are correlated with a lack of education. The economy in Daviess County is changing from a manufacturing economy to a knowledge based economy. Again, higher education is essential in this new economy. The county has set a goal to increase the percentage of bachelor degree holders from 15% to 20% of the population. Help us reach this community goal by coming to WKU-O. Grow with us.
