News Categories

This tutorial will show you how to manage your news categories.

Categories

All News pages must have at least one category as you MUST select at least one category for each article.  By default, your news page will be setup with a category named "General".  You may rename this category as you see fit.

If a news page only has one category, the "Categories View" will not appear on your website's news page.  You can have as many categories as you'd like and you can also manage their sort order (the order in which they appear on your website's news page).

Follow the directions below to Add New Categories.  The process for Editing Categories is the same, just click on the Edit Icon next to each category from the list view.

Add New Category

1. From the My News Pages list view, click on the Manage Categories Icon .
2. You should now see a list of categories for your news page.
3. To add a category, click on the Add Category link at the top of the list. 
4. You should now see a blank form.  Fill out the form. 
5. After completing the form, click the Add Category button at the bottom of the form.

Edit Existing Category

1. From the My News Pages list view, click on the Manage Categories Icon.
2. You should now see a list of categories for your news page.
3. To edit a current category, click on the Edit Category icon next to the category.
4. You should see the pre-filled form with your category's information that you may change.
5. After completing the form, click the Update Category button at the bottom of the form.

Delete Existing Category

1. From the My News Pages list view, click the Manage Categories icon.
2. Click the Delete icon next to the category you would like to delete.
3. A confirmation box will appear, click "Yes".

NOTE: You cannot delete categories that contain articles , but you can make the category inactive so it no longer shows on your website's news page.
