Change Templates

This step-by-step guide will show you how to switch templates - (e.g. switching from a 2 column to a 3 column page).  We recommend using this method as opposed to deleting and recreating due to the dependency manager.  By using this method, you will avoid broken links on your site and on other WKU sites that link to your pages.

You can use this guide to switch template families as well (e.g. switching from a top nav site to a hybrid site) - but you must first have the Main Site Contact email to have the template family added to your site.

 Step-By-Step Guide
  1. Create the new page with the proper template.
  2. Enter your content into the new template.  You may be able to copy and paste from your old page into your new page.
IMPORTANT:  Never link to the "new" page.  The new page will be deleted after this process so always point to the old page when creating links.
  3. Publish your new page
  4. Check out your old page and click expire

Expire a page in OU Campus

  5. On the expire screen under the Date and Time section, choose a date and time for the expire.  This date and time will be the time that your template change occurs.  Note that you can only select minutes in 15 minute increments.
  6. Under the Expiration Options section, choose Replace
  7. Click the Choose Replacement File and browse to the location of the new file you created in Step #1.  Select the file.
  8. Click Schedule

On the date and time of the scheduled expire, your old page will now be replaced with your new page.  IMPORTANT NOTE: After the process is complete, you should delete the "new" file created in Step #1.
