As a WKU student, you have access to services and helpful resources to make your distance learning experience more successful.
- Office of Distance Learning. The Office of Distance Learning is here to provide you with support as you apply, register and take online courses. If you have questions about the process of taking online courses or would like assistance using the software required to take online courses, please call 888-4WKUWEB or 270-745-5173. - DELO Testing Center. Some instructors of distance learning courses required that students take one or more proctored examinations during the class. The DELO Testing Center provides proctored testing services to distant students by assisting them in finding a testing site near their home. Once the location of the proctored exam is finalized, the Testing Center sends the appropriate exam, either electronically or by mail, to that location. - Office of Admissions. The Admissions Office provides information for undergraduate students on admission requirements; whether you’re applying as a beginning freshman, transfer student, readmit student or visiting student you can apply online and learn of any additional paperwork that may be required for admission to the university. - Academic Advising & Retention Center (AARC). AARC provides a wide range of academic services to undergraduate students, including advising of all Exploratory/ Generally Undecided students and helps these students plan for their potential major. - Office of the Registrar. The Office of the Registrar is here to provide you with information regarding graduation, credit by exam, withdrawal from a course and answer questions pertaining to the degree program you have on file. - Library Resources. As a WKU student you have access to library resources which include online databases, professional journals and interlibrary loan. Extended Campus Services offers special services to distance learners. Find out more by emailing extcamp.library@wku.edu, calling 800-922-9585 or by downloading a library resource packet.
- Kentucky Virtual Library. The Kentucky Virtual Library provides access to quality library and information resources online at www.kyvl.org.
- Blackboard Tutorial. Blackboard is WKU's course delivery system for online courses. This tutorial will take you through the basic skills of using Blackboard. You can move at your own pace and review any sections as needed. You can access the tutorial at http://www.wku.edu/online/bbtutorial.html.
- Online Tutorials. The Information Technology Division (IT) provides online tutorials for distance students on a variety of topics. You can access video tutorials at http://www.wku.edu/infotech/.
- Network and Computing Support. If you have difficulty accessing your Email, TopNet, Tegrity or Blackboard and have viewed the tutorials, please call 270-745-7000 or visit http://www.wku.edu/infotech/.
- Financial Aid. Distance learners, who are enrolled as half-time or full-time students, may qualify for financial aid. Learn more about how to apply at http://www.wku.edu/Info/FinAid/.
- College Heights Bookstore. Order your books and have them shipped directly to you, or just find out which textbooks are required for your course(s) at http://www.wku.edu/Info/Bookstore/ or by calling 270-745-2466 or 800-444-5155.
- Career Services Center. The Career Services Center is WKU's one stop shop for all of your career related needs. We can assist you in your job search, developing your career portfolio, choosing and understanding the internship/co-op process and helping those looking for a little direction in choosing a career path. - Student Disability Services. SDS assists students with planning pre-admission and pre-enrollment, serves as a liaison with many state agencies including, Kentucky Vocational Rehabilitation and the Kentucky Department for the Blind. They offer specialized orientation, and help faculty and staff work effectively with students with disabilities. In addition SDS offers specialty services for visually impaired students, hearing impaired students, alternate learners, and students with mobility and orthopedic limitations.
