Programs With Some Online Courses
Although these programs are not available completely online you may able to earn a degree through a combination of face-to-face classes, interactive video classes at regional campuses, and online classes. Contact the department housing each degree if you are interested in these programs.
Bachelor of Arts in Consumer and Family Sciences (Family Studies Concentration)
This program offers three concentrations: (1) Child Studies, which provides a program of study for students who wish to work in a child-focused environment but do not wish to seek teacher certification; (2) Family and Consumer Sciences Education, which leads to teacher certification; and, (3) Family Studies, which provides a program of study for students who wish to work in a family-focused environment. Students enrolled in the Family Studies concentration may not minor in Family Studies.
Cost Control Management in Hotel/Tourism/Restaurant Management
The hotel, restaurant, and tourism management concentration requires 67 semester hours. This concentration helps prepare students for careers in hotel and resort management, restaurant management, hospital and school food service, meeting and convention planning, sales and marketing, business and industry food service, catering, and tourism. In addition to the common core courses indicated for the major, this concentration requires CFS 171, 271, 275, 276, 313, 378, 410, 470, 471, 472, and MKT 220.
Bachelors degree in Psychology
The general major in psychology requires a minimum of 36 semester hours and leads to a Bachelors of Arts degree. A minor or second major is required. The extended major in psychology requires a minimum of 51 semester hours; no minor or second major is required.
Masters of Arts in Education in Instructional Leadership
The Department of Educational Administration, Leadership, and Research offers graduate courses and programs designed to prepare school personnel for effective leadership in the elementary and secondary schools. The department also includes Educational Foundations faculty who teach courses in research methods and statistics for graduate level programs.
Masters degree in Public Administration
The Political Science Department offers a Master in Public Administration degree (MPA). The MPA Program at WKU is ideal for people who want to shape the future – both for themselves and their community. The MPA Program provides knowledge and skills appropriate for management in public, not-for-profit, and private sector organizations. The MPA Program serves three primary categories of students: (1) those preparing for careers in the public sector who possess little or no practical experience in government employment; (2) those experienced public administrators who seek additional academic and practical knowledge as a means to increase their administrative potential; and (3) members of the U.S. Military service who seek a master’s degree to enhance their management potential for command officer status and professional employment.
