Online Classes

Online classes are semester based courses taught via the Internet. The campus location for these courses is listed as "web." In order to be listed as a web course in the schedule of classes, there must be no more than two meetings required in a given semester. Most often, online courses do not require any face-to-face meetings. However, if this is a concern for you please contact the Office of Distance Learning prior to registration at learn.online@wku.edu or 888-4WKUWEB.

Current Online Course Offerings

  • Summer 2012 (Three and five week sessions beginning May 14)
  • Fall 2012 (Full semester courses: August 27-December 14)

Past Semester Course Offerings

Independent Learning courses have open enrollment, and they are the only courses offered at WKU that do not require admission to the University prior to registration. You have up to nine months to complete the course and can register at anytime! Click here to see IL course offerings.

Telecourses refers to semester based courses viewed by streaming online video, DVD, VHS, or Cable TV (WKYU TV). Students complete all learning and assignments from home, but some class meetings may be required throughout the semester. To find listings visit WKU's Schedule of Classes and search campus location "Telecourse."

IVS courses refer to semester based courses broadcast to and from regional campus locations in Glasgow, Owensboro, and Elizabethtown/Radcliff/Ft. Knox. These courses provide real-time interaction between the originating site and remote classroom locations. To find listings, visit WKU's Schedule of Classes and search by regional campus location.
