ADDIE MODEL

addie model

Depending on the need you have, you can approach the design of a course in different ways. WKU Distance Learning follows an Instructional System Design (ISD) known as the ADDIE model. The ADDIE model, as any other ISD model, does not imply a particular pedagogy of learning theory. ADDIE stands for the five phases that the model suggests: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation.

Following these phases guarantees that you ask the right question when you are planning your course, such as who your students are, what you want them to learn, what activities are more favorable for them to acquire that knowledge/skills, and how will you measure your students learning. When using the ADDIE model to design your course, keep in mind the above mentioned activities related to the learning processes.

Our staff is available to consult individually with WKU faculty members on questions related to any phase of the ADDIE model. To schedule a consultation, call (270) 745-5107, or contact us by email at leyla.zhuhadar@wku.edu to arrange an appointment.
