Online Certificate Programs

Family Home Visiting Certificate
The Family Home Visiting Certificate will prepare students to provide home visiting services. Potential clients include those needing parenting skills, those at risk for abusing and neglecting their children, and/or those who need other support services. The Certificate Program requires 12 hours of course work.

Graduate Certificate in International Student Services
College campuses have become increasingly internationalized in recent decades. International student populations have grown, study abroad has become a standard of the higher education landscape, and as a result, the student population has developed new needs.  The Certificate in International Student Services offers graduate-level students preparation to manage educational exchange, lead campus internationalization, and provide international student services. Students pursuing the Certificate in International Student Services may complete the certificate program by itself or along with the MAE in Student Affairs. Successful graduates will have earned their certificate through theory-based instruction, application of material through internship, and an international experience.

Autism Spectrum Disorders Certificate
This 15 hour program prepares students to provide educational, social, behavioral, and community services and information to individuals diagnosed with ASD and their families.  Individuals who complete the program will be knowledgeable about the various disorders included in the spectrum of autism, characteristics, educational strategies, collaboration efforts, communication, and technology skills to be implemented with individuals with ASD.

Graduate Certificate in Leadership Studies
The Leadership Certificate Program offers both an undergraduate and graduate interdisciplinary academic program. You will enhance your understanding of leadership theory and practice, while applying it directly toward your academic or professional area of interest. Students admitted to graduate studies at WKU can elect to pursue the graduate Certificate in Leadership Studies either by itself, or in conjunction with a masters program in a selected specific discipline.

Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies
A graduate certificate in women’s studies will provide you with all the skills of other liberal arts degrees: critical and ethical thinking, strong writing and speaking skills, and the ability to present information clearly in an organized format; however, women’s studies will take these skills further, helping you understand the sometimes “hidden” dynamics related to race, gender, and class. Such thinking and communication skills are often in short supply on the job, so savvy employers value employees who have them. As wonderful as it is to be appreciated for your skills, it's just as important to know for yourself how to interpret the world and your experience in it. Women's studies help you gain that kind of breadth of knowledge and experience.

Undergraduate Certificate in Canadian Studies

The Canadian Studies Online Program (CSOP) was created in 2001 to promote our understanding our North American neighbor: who they are, what we share in common, and what makes us different in our increasingly interconnected and interdependent world. The Western Kentucky University offers the Canadian Studies Certificate which includes courses taught by WKU and Canadian Studies Online Program faculty. The WKU Canadian Studies Certificate is designed to appeal to a variety of student interests, encourage the multidisciplinary study of our North American neighbor, and provide an opportunity to intern in the Canadian Parliament.
