Welcome to the Blackboard Tutorial for Students

This course will take you through the basic skills of using Blackboard. You can move at your own pace and review any sections as needed. There are nine sections of this online course.

Start by viewing the How to Get Help section and proceed to Assignments. Then, view the Chat section. For information on how your grades are displayed, select the Checking Grades section. Next, you can learn how to use the E-Mail feature. To discover how to upload your files to a virtual hard drive, view My Files. The next set of tutorials will instruct you on building and sharing Portfolios.  To address the method for fixing a problem with the Visual Text Box Editor (the feature that allows users to format text), select the Text Box Editor section. Finally, the section labeled Additional Information offers information on file conversion and hiding old Blackboard course sites.

Please note: not all instructors use all of the features covered in this course. However, most instructors use a Faculty or Staff Information button, located in the course menu, to provide contact information for students.

Much of the material in this course is presented in short Flash videos. You will need to have the Flash Player installed in your browser to complete this course. If you are not sure if the Flash player is installed on your PC, click this link. You can install the Flash Player by going to the Adobe website.

We hope this course provides you with a better understanding of Blackboard.
