Online Associate Degree Programs
Associate of Arts in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education
The Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education program leads to the associate of arts degree. The program requires a minimum of 37 hours of course work specific to the program as well as 27 hours of general education which should include the following: ENGL 100C, ENGL 200C, SPCH 145C, MA 109C/116C, HIST 119C/120C, HED 100C, PSYC 100C and 6 hours of elective credit in Category D, and UCC 175C (University Experience).
Associate of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies
The Associate of Interdisciplinary Studies degree is designed for those who need or desire a flexible degree program. Within the limits specified for the degree, students, with their advisors, may design programs to suit their personal needs and educational objectives. The program requires completion of 64 credit hours with a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average. These hours must be distributed among general education requirements and two areas of emphasis.
Associate of Arts in Office Systems Technology
The mission of the Business Technology program is to prepare students
academically in a core of courses focused on common business environment
skills and specific course concentrations in the following areas: Banking,
Information Systems, Office Management, Retail Management, Business
Management and Manufacturing Management.
The goals are:
*to prepare terminal-degree students for successful business careers after graduation;
*to furnish business students prerequisites for transfer into baccalaureate programs;
*to provide job enhancement opportunities for non-degree seeking students; and
*to allow under prepared or never prepared business students an opportunity for a college degree.
Associate of Applied Science in Paramedicine Completion
The associate of applied science degree in paramedicine is a completion program for individuals who are nationally certified Paramedics. The degree requires a minimum of 65 semester hours for completion. WKU will award the student 40 block semester hours for current National Certification as a Paramedic after completion of 25 semester hours of specified general education classes. Most of the required general education courses can be taken either through correspondence or the Internet. The objective of the associate degree in paramedicine is to afford certified paramedics the opportunity to increase their professional qualifications through acquiring the general education background. The paramedic student will bring the occupational or career competencies with them through the certification process. Academic subjects necessary to complete the general education requirements include standard liberal arts courses and course work useful to health care providers. This combination will provide the degree candidate a solid educational foundation compatible with and complementary to their occupational skills and status. The associate degree in paramedicine is valued as a means of increasing general knowledge, critical thinking skills, and professionalism within the career field.
