Get Involved

Interested in getting involved with the inaugural year of International Year of Ecuador? For the IYO Ecuador to be truly successful, the 2014-15 calendar of events should boast involvement from across the WKU campus. Ideally, all colleges and as many academic department and campus units as possible should be represented and provide multiple opportunities to engage with Ecuador. Exploration of the country will occur in mutiple ways-including, but not limited to:

  • Lectures;
  • Musical/dance performances;
  • Food tastings;
  • Discussion panels;
  • Exhibits;
  • Enhanced course work;
  • Research projects;
  • Education abroad program offerings

To ensure that the student audiences are engaging in meaningful ways for their respective disciplines, colleges and departments are encouraged to pursue and develop their own programming. OIP has dedicated $50,000 in funding (1:1 matching required) for the purpose of supporting programs and events that meet the IYO objectives.

WKU units may apply for IYO matching funding through OIP. Click here for information and application materials on the IYO Support Grant.

Planning Committee

For each IYO, OIP establishes a Planning Committee of faculty, staff, and community members who have experience and connections with the target country. This committee provides guidance and leadership in planning and carrying out the associated IYO.
