Grant Programs
The Office of International Programs offers two grants to enable faculty and staff
Study Abroad Course Development Travel Grant
Support from this fund is intended to assist faculty members in planning and developing credit-bearing study abroad courses led for WKU students by WKU faculty. This stipend should be used for transportation costs (airfare and ground transportation in international location), local accommodations and a per diem for the time of the site visit. Additional fees such as entrance fees or costs associated with engaging necessary local personnel (guides, travel agents, etc) will also be considered. Special supplies and equipment needed for development of a course while on site visit may be considered with explanation. This is not intended to be a salary grant for time to prepare course.
A WKU faculty member may receive up to $1000 from central WKU study abroad funds if they also receive at an equal amount from the department, college, or other source as support for travel for a site visit and course development. The funding received cannot exceed the total expenses incurred.
to internationalize programs and services.

TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED
TARGETED INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVES GRANT - TIIG
The Office of International Programs (OIP) Targeted International Initiatives Grant is a limited
discretionary grant that is occasionally made available for specific international initiatives. It draws on
multiple funding sources. Typically, these are initiatives that are partly funded by another department
(preferred) or somehow fall into a category that is difficult to fund via traditional avenues.
The one
common attribute of these grants is that they advance the mission of internationalizing WKU.
As a unit within the Division of Academic Affairs, it is important that the Office of International
Programs' funding efforts be coordinated with that office. All proposals must show that they have
either been denied, or did not qualify for, Academic Affairs “Provost's Initiatives for Excellence” (PIE)
grant.
Proposals will be evaluated by the Director of Study Abroad and the Director of International Student
and Scholar Services. Recommendations will then be made to the Chief International Officer. This will
occur within two weeks of the submission date. After consultation with the Chief International Officer,
final decisions on proposals are communicated to the originator(s).
