Global Encounters is a compiled list of campus events that cultivate international education, awareness, and cultural exchange.
Spring 2012 Events
The Seventeenth Convention of Bosniaks in North America will be held on Memorial Day weekend, May 25 - May 28, 2012. As part of the convention, the official grand opening of the Bosnian Islamic Center mosque will be held.
The following events will be held at Western Kentucky University leading up to the convention:
- May 20 - May 25: Photo gallery about Bosnia and Herzegovina titled "In the depth of my Land" by Dijana Muminovic
- May 20 - May 24: Movies about Bosnia and Herzegovina - In the Land of Blood and Honey, Grbavica, Shot through the Heart, Remake, Behind Enemy Lines, Hunting Party, No Man's Land
- May 25 (2:00pm - 5:00pm): Lectures about Bosnia and Herzegovina, about Bosniaks, and about Genocide - Dr. Senad Agic, Dr. Jerry Daday, Elcin Celik, Dijana Muminovic
International Reach Week
WKU's Office of International Programs (OIP) announces its second annual International Reach Week, set to take place during the last week in September (24-28). The week-long series of events is designed to spotlight the many ways in which our faculty, staff, and students are helping to make WKU "a leading American university with international reach".

Talk on Fridays is designed to provide an opportunity for American and international
students to converse in English and learn about culture in a relaxed environment.
