Welcome from the Dean

Welcome from the Dean
Dr. Cheryl Stevens

Ogden College of Science & Engineering continues to grow, along with the opportunities for Ogden students to become engaged in meeting real-world challenges, both here and abroad. From Agriculture to Zoology, students gain hands-on experience under the supervision of Ogden College faculty mentors. Students have helped meet challenges from elephant damage in Kenya, Africa along with water and air quality challenges in China.  Engineering students are developing a new generation of energy efficient and eco-friendly appliances.  The Mesonet, a real-time weather network with 62 stations across the Commonwealth, supplies weather data to three state agencies, to TV broadcasting stations, the National Weather Service, and many other constituents as part of the Kentucky Climate Center.  A prototyping facility and automated robotics manufacturing cell make it possible for students to interact with industry on projects at the cutting edge of technology. These are just a few of the exciting ongoing projects waiting for our students.  These opportunities, coupled with partnerships with local industry and high-tech start-up companies at the WKU Center for Research and Development, make Ogden College of Science & Engineering an exciting place to be.

This rich academic environment has helped students reach their potential for success. Students have been recognized with prestigious scholarships and a record number of students have been accepted into medical and pharmacy schools.  Partnerships with nationally recognized universities will open up additional opportunities in optometry, primary care medicine, and veterinary medicine.  As we prepare for the future, opportunities across the Ogden disciplines are available for students to gain practical experience by participating in a research team, studying abroad, participating in field studies, attending scientific conferences, and gaining professional experience through internships.  What really makes us special is the academic preparation, dedication, and enthusiasm of our faculty. They are about student engagement, the student experience, and student success.  Ogden College is in the excellent position of providing innovative academic programs designed to place well trained students directly into the workforce as well as to continue their educations at select graduate schools at a rate well above the national average.

Our students are truly nationally and globally competitive.  We hope you will inquire further and join the excitement. For more information please contact
