The John E. and Betty A. Capito Scholarship Fund was established as perpetual trust within the College Heights Foundation on January 4, 1995, by a gift made by Mr. John W. Capito. The number and amount of awards will be determined based upon the development of the fund, the rate of earnings, and other factors that affect the availability of funds.
Recipients are to be full-time students at Western Kentucky University. Recipients must be majoring in nursing. Recipients must be residents of Kentucky. Preference is given to students residing in Bowling Green or Warren County, with residents of the counties contiguous to Warren given second consideration. Recipients must possess the personal qualities of character, integrity, dependability, industriousness and human compassion which produce leaders and merit the honor of the award.
The Nancy Rascoe Scholarship for Excellence in Nursing is a $250 scholarship given in honor of a former nursing instructor who influenced numerous nursing students as she taught nursing at Western Kentucky University for nearly 30 years. It is awarded to a student in the Associate Degree in Nursing Program who is in the second or third semester of the two-year program. The student may be a full or part-time student.
A committee of faculty members in the Associate Degree Nursing Program will make the selection based on financial need, student initiative, concern for excellence in nursing care and student potential in the nursing field
The Frank and Edna Todd Memorial Associate of Science in Nursing Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship given to a student in the Associate Degree in Nursing Program at WKU who is in the second or third semester of the two-year program. The student may be a full or part-time student. A committee of three faculty members in the Associate Degree Nursing Program will make the selection based on financial need, student initiative, and student potential in the nursing career.
