Stephens Returns To WKU-Elizabethtown/Radcliff/Ft. Knox

July13, 2009

Bowling Green, Ky. - Dr. Ronald Stephens returns as the associate dean of the Division of Extended Learningstephens and Outreach and director for the Elizabethtown/Radcliff/Ft. Knox Regional Center today (July 13).

Dr. Stephens had more than 30 years of service at WKU before retiring in December 2008. He served the final 11 years as director of the Elizabethtown campus, which also includes locations in Radcliff and Ft. Knox.

“I am excited about returning to WKU to help address the upcoming growth in Hardin and surrounding communities,” Dr. Stephens said. “WKU is bringing additional degree programs to our area which will provide new career options for local families, and I look forward to helping establish these opportunities.”

Dr. Stephens has played an integral part in the strong partnership with Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC), working to create a smooth transition for ECTC students who move on to complete their baccalaureate degree at WKU.

“We are delighted to have been able to convince Dr. Stephens to return as the Director of WKU-Elizabethtown/Radcliff/Ft. Knox regional campus,” said Dr. Don Swoboda, dean of the Division of Extended Learning & Outreach, under which WKU’s regional campuses are administered.

“His wealth of knowledge about the campus, programs, the communities, and the BRAC situation at Ft. Knox will be a tremendous asset to WKU’s efforts to continue to expand our programming working with our partners on the ECTC campus,” Dr. Swoboda said.

WKU began offering classes at Elizabethtown and Ft. Knox in the early 1970s and added the Radcliff Regional Educational Center in 2007. Students can complete bachelor and master’s degrees in several areas without leaving Hardin County through cooperative arrangements between WKU and ECTC.
