Bowling
Green, Ky. - WKYU-PBS, Western Kentucky University’s Public Television service, has been honored with two Emmy Awards by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Ohio Valley Chapter.
The documentary “Joe Downing: Poet of Color and Light” won in the Nostalgia Program category (Producers Barbara Deeb and David Brinkley, Editor Stephen Kertis, and Executive Producer Jerry Baker) and David Brinkley won for Lighting in the craft category for a composite of his work on “Joe Downing: Poet of Color and Light,” “An Evening with Sylvia Kersenbaum” and “MainStreet.”
WKYU-PBS was nominated in four categories, including the magazine program “MainStreet” and for audio work on the special musical program, “An Evening with Sylvia Kersenbaum.” WKYU-PBS is the only television station in Bowling Green to receive nominations or awards. The awards ceremony was held Saturday night in Lexington.
Large television markets like Cincinnati, Columbus, Louisville, Lexington and Charleston, W.Va., were well represented with entries, along with 13 other television markets. From 588 individual entries from four states, 231 were honored with nominations.
