WKU Honors Area High School Scholars

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University honored 40 seniors from six southcentral Kentucky area high schools for their academic achievements.

Thursday’s annual High School Scholars Luncheon honored high school seniors from Allen, Butler, Edmonson, Logan and Simpson counties who qualify for an academic scholarship to WKU. This year’s group has an average ACT composite score of 28.8 and grade-point average of 3.93 and includes 21 Governor’s Scholars and one National Merit Semifinalist.

The students honored included:


From Allen County-Scottsville High School: Kate Bomar, Amy Cline, Aaron Holland, Joseph Jeskie, Andrea McGuire, Shawna McPherson, Paige Montgomery, Leah Ralph, Delaney Rockrohr, Quinn Rockrohr, Mackenzie Williams, Teresa Witcher.

From Butler County High School: Jerrod Barks, Kaylyn Cardwell, Matt Childress, Hope Curry, Paige Embry, Colten Givens, Adair Schwartz, Rachelle Vaught.

From Edmonson County High School: Erica Ashley, William Brooks, Cara Florence, Benjamin Grey, Brittany Pidgeon.

From Franklin-Simpson High School: Bracken Flynn, Janae Lewis, Haley Mefford, Elizabeth Wakefield.

From Logan County High School: LeRon Collier, Jordan Johnson, Anna Link, Joshua Slaton, Tyler Toon, Jenna Wilson, Sarah Zibart.

From Russellville High School: Autumn Calloway, Anna Epley, Dean Johnson, Elizabeth Sells, Owen Townsend.
Upcoming recognition events include the Bowling Green/Warren County Scholars Luncheon on Jan. 23; and Elizabethtown Area Scholars Dinner on Jan. 27.
