January 12, 2009
Bowling
Green, Ky. - The annual Macy’s Used Book Sale will be held Jan. 30 through Feb. 1 at Bowling Green’s Historic L&N Depot.
Thousands of materials will be available for sale at the event. Proceeds from the used book sale will benefit the Southern Kentucky Book Fest partnership and area literacy projects.
“We are excited that Macy’s is again sponsoring this worthwhile event that benefits so many local reading programs and author appearances in our area,” said Jerald Manning, general manager of Macy’s. “Macy’s also enjoys being able to support the Book Fest in April which allows area residents to hear from nationally acclaimed writers and buy signed copies of their books.”
Donations of books, videos, CDs, DVDs, and audio books can be made at Macy’s or Warren County Public Library main branch through Jan. 26. Donated materials are tax deductible.
The sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, and Saturday, Jan. 31, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. Volunteers are needed to unload books prior to the sale and to assist customers during the sale dates.
SOKY Book Fest is a partnership project of WKU Libraries, Warren County Public Library, and Barnes and Noble Booksellers. The partnership’s mission is to encourage reading and the love of books and to be a positive force in promoting literacy in the region and state.
