Saturdays Sure To Be Super At The Center For Gifted Studies

Bowling Green, Ky. - Because learning doesn’t have to stop on Friday, The Center for Gifted Studies’ Winter Super Saturdays program will be taking place this month on Western Kentucky University’s campus. 

For the next four Saturdays, about 450 young people in grades 1-7 will be exploring exciting new territory in history, mathematics, science, art, literature, music, computer science, engineering, language and more. Classes will last from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

The Center believes that education is most effective and successful when teachers, parents and young people work together. Parents are invited to attend the two seminars on parenting gifted children from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 7 and Feb. 14. The first seminar will focus primarily on gifted middle school children and feature a film created by The Center for Gifted Studies.  On Feb. 14, comedian and author Brad Tassell will give a presentation on how to handle bullying effectively at school. Both parent seminars are free.

Super Saturdays offers gifted children a chance they need and enjoy: a chance to continue learning even on Saturday afternoon. Super Saturdays’ students broaden the scope of their interests, interact with other bright young people, and challenge themselves to new academic heights and achievements. Super Saturdays classes emphasize a hands-on, minds-on approach to learning and cultivates an environment in which creativity and critical thinking are encouraged.
