Bowling
Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University senior Brian Bloss was chosen to be the alternate to debate in The Irish Debates on March 27 in Stockton, Calif.
Nominations from across the United States are received in early January then a committee of five reviews applications and selects the final six for interviews. Bloss, of Coppell, Texas, was nominated by Judy Woodring, WKU Director of Forensics.
“As a senior, it is humbling to know one of my final collegiate debate experiences will include an opportunity to represent the United States in a forum with debaters from around the country and around the world,” Bloss said.
Since 1994, the National Parliamentary Debate Association and The Irish Times have co-hosted the annual Irish Debates at the NPDA national tournament, with three students representing the United States and three representing Ireland. Three students and one alternate are chosen from applicants from universities across the nation.
