Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University President Gary Ransdell is among 57 presidents of colleges, universities and higher education associations selected to serve on the inaugural Chronicle of Higher Education/New York Times Higher Education Cabinet.

The group will meet Sept. 15 at The New York Times headquarters to discuss issues such as sustaining the higher education financing model, e-learning, internationalization, and assessment and accountability.

“I am proud to be invited and to represent WKU in this important series of discussions,” Dr. Ransdell said. “There are many challenges facing higher education and I look forward to learning much from my peers, and sharing some of the innovative things we are doing at WKU.”

Other members of the cabinet include the presidents of Amherst, California, Colgate, Cornell, George Washington, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Pennsylvania, Pomona, Purdue, Smith, Tufts and Vassar. The Association of American Universities, American Council on Education, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges and the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities are also represented.
