WKU Student Newspaper Joins Yearbook As Pacemaker Finalist

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University’s student newspaper has joined its yearbook as a finalist for a national Pacemaker Award.

The College Heights Herald is one of 20 finalists in the four-year non-daily newspaper category selected by the Associated Collegiate Press. The 2007 Talisman is one of 15 finalists in the yearbook category. Awards will be presented at the ACP annual convention Oct. 29-Nov. 2 in Kansas City.

Wes Nolen, a graduate from Erin, Tenn., was Herald editor in the fall 2007 and spring 2008 semesters. Heather Mitchell, a graduate from Versailles, was 2007 Talisman editor.

The Herald has won 12 national Pacemakers while the Talisman has won 10. The Herald and Talisman have won national Pacemakers at the same convention six times – 1981, 1982, 1984, 1988, 2003 and 2005.
