Green, Ky. - The Nashville Advertising Federation has given its most prestigious award, the President’s 
Award for Outstanding Service, to Western Kentucky University’s Heather Garcia.
Garcia manages Imagewest, the only full-service, student-run advertising and public relations agency in the country. Imagewest is part of WKU’s School of Journalism and Broadcasting.
Garcia has been involved with the NAF for four years and is serving a three-year term as a board member. She was the 2008 committee chair for Nashville’s district American Advertising Federation’s ADDY Awards, the advertising industry’s largest competition. The ADDY Awards start at the local level, but go to the national level, attracting more than 60,000 entries annually across 15 districts of the United States.
“I am so honored to receive this award,” Garcia said. “I love to be involved with the NAF. It’s a fun way to get involved in the advertising community and the people are great.”
David Gwiazdon, former president of the NAF, presented Garcia with the President’s Award, along with fellow NAF member Lisa Minor who was recognized for outstanding service.
The Nashville Advertising Federation’s mission is to expose members to visionary issues relative to the advertising/communications industry while creating opportunities for networking, learning, service and individual recognition. The NAF is a partner of the American Advertising Federation (AAF). The AAF is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and is a trade association that represents 50,000 professionals in the advertising Industry. It is a national network of 210 ad clubs and connects the industry with an academic base through its 210 college chapters.
