Bowling
Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University forensic team members traveled to Liberty, Mo., and Nashville, Tenn., to take part in two tournaments the weekend of Sept. 19-21.
At the William Jewell Cardinal Classic and Round Robin, WKU’s debate team won the round robin parliamentary debate tournament held by invitation, as well as Lincoln-Douglas debate in the rest of the tournament. The WKU squad of 11 placed second in sweepstakes. Washburn University placed first, while McKendree College placed third.
In Nashville, a small delegation of WKU team members competed at the 7th Annual Music City Invitational, winning eight of the 11 events in the first half. WKU placed second in sweepstakes for both halves of the swing tournament, while the University of Alabama placed first in both portions. In the Alumni portion, Illinois State University placed third; in the TSU portion, the University of Florida took third.

Logan Parke, a junior from Little Rock, Ark., tournament champion in Lincoln-Douglas debate, fifth Lincoln-Douglas debate speaker and quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Thomas Schally).
Elizabeth Mullins, a junior from Plymouth, Mass., tournament champion in parliamentary debate (with Jessica Furgerson) and top parliamentary debate speaker in the Round Robin; quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Jessica Furgerson) and fifth parliamentary debate speaker.
Thomas Schally, a senior from Stillwater, Minn., top Lincoln-Douglas debate speaker, quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Logan Parke), octafinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate and seventh parliamentary debate speaker.
Jessica Furgerson, a junior from San Antonio, Texas, tournament champion in parliamentary debate (with Elizabeth Mullins) and second parliamentary debate speaker in the Round Robin; quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Elizabeth Mullins) and 13th parliamentary debate speaker.
Kaleb Jessee, a junior from Garden City, Kan., semifinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate, quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Brian Bloss) and seventh Lincoln-Douglas debate speaker.
Brandon Merrell, a sophomore from Snohomish, Wash., quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate, octafinalist in parliamentary debate (with Josh Ramsey), fourth Lincoln-Douglas debate speaker and fourth parliamentary debate speaker.
Brian Bloss, a senior from Coppell, Texas, quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate, quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Kaleb Jessee) and 13th Lincoln-Douglas debate speaker.
Kelcy Hathaway, a junior from Garden City, Kan., octafinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate and octafinalist in parliamentary debate (with Rachel Mosley).
Josh Ramsey, a junior from Fort Scott, Kan., quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate, octafinalist in parliamentary debate (with Brandon Merrell), and 11th Lincoln-Douglas debate speaker.

Ethan Millspaugh, a sophomore from Coppell, Texas, tournament champion in poetry interpretation and third in duo interpretation (with Ganer Newman) in the Alumni portion; tournament champion in poetry interpretation in the TSU portion.
